Willy Wonka has traveled the world to learn everything there is to know about chocolate and perfected his recipes to achieve a dream he shared with his mother. He is ready to open his shop in the prestigious Galeries Gourmet, among other world-renowned chocolatiers, but he learns it will be more challenging than he dreamed. With the help of a little girl and some friends, Willie works his magic and solves problems with chocolate.

This film is a musical prequel to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The singing and dancing are peppered throughout the movie and are not a significant part of the storytelling. The film makes a lot of references to the original movie. It gives more depth to who Willy Wonka is and how he ended up with the chocolate factory. This is a great film to introduce children to the 1971 film and a walk down memory lane for anyone who grew up with the film.
