Suzume

Suzume meets a strange man asking her if there are any ruins with a door in her city, and her curiosity gets the best of her. She beats him to the place and finds the door. Upon opening it, she sees a fantastic sight that is awe-inspiring and familiar at the same time. After passing through the door and trying to get to the place, she picks up a peculiar stone that turns into a cat. She gets on with her typical day, trying to put the strange experience behind her. Little does she know she has stumbled into a world beneath her own, and she will have to help the man fix her mistake while acknowledging her present and confronting her past.

A beautiful film with some fantastic animation and a score to match. The story has many different elements, which makes it interesting. The story is from Suzume's point of view, but the other characters are just as vital. The film is long, and some parts could be removed, but it is enjoyable to watch by the end. If you are an anime fan or want to enjoy something different in the theaters, this is worth a watch; otherwise, stream it once it is available.
