Bill Furlong is a devoted member of his community and church in his small Irish town, helping whenever and whoever he can. During his regular route delivering fuel and coal, he observes something disturbing at the convent that triggers something from his past and sends him down a turbulent path.

This film adaptation of the novel is intriguing. The story is heartwrenching and dark. There is little dialogue, and the story unfolds slowly, becoming captivating in the second half. This artistic film feels longer, with one hour and thirty-eight minutes runtime. This film may not be for everyone, but those who can make it through it will truly appreciate it.
