Sarah Rector was given 160 acres of land in Oklahoma Indian Territory in the early 1900s as compensation for her ancestry. Believed to be barren and useless by everyone, she believed otherwise. She set out to discover the oil flowing below, finding friends and foes along the way.
An excellent biopic about a little girl who believed in herself when no one else did, during a time in American history that barely treated her, her family, and community with respect or dignity. The story shares the history of the Midwest, including the oil boom, the basics of oil drilling, the racial relations of that period, and Sarah's faith. The one hour and forty-three minute runtime is sufficient to share Sarah's story. A great historical watch for both children and adults.
