Polite Society

Ria Khan aspires to break from societal expectations and become a stunt woman, following in her sister's footsteps, who is on her way to becoming an artist. After Leena meets one of the town's most eligible bachelors, she abandons her dreams and settles down. Ria suspects something more sinister is afoot and makes it her mission to save her sister.

This is an intriguing flick. It is a mixture of different genres, not blended into one continuous film but bleeding into each other. The story does break the typical story arcs for people of Pakistani and Indian descent. It feels predictable but then takes a couple of unexpected turns. The action is reminiscent of classic kung fu movies, with some suspension wire use. The British style of comedy manages a couple of laughs. The film is something to stream if you want something different.
