While struggling to open up at her court-ordered PTSD group, Merit is haunted by the army friend she lost. As she struggles to deal with her trauma, Merit is pulled away from it by her aging veteran grandfather. As she navigates what to do to help her grandfather, she begins to live in the present and confront and face the ghost of her friend Zoe.

The personal story of the director inspires this movie. Mental health and suicide are serious issues, especially amongst the veteran population. This story shares the many forms mental health can take, how it affects veterans differently, and how veterans of different generations handle PTSD. While the subject matter is serious and challenging, the movie does an excellent job of peppering in some comedy and keeping it light. The one-hour and forty-three-minute runtime marches quickly as the story unfolds and the drama builds. Another unique feature of the movie is that most of the cast are veterans, further driving the point home. It is a great watch to bring awareness to an issue many have dealt with regardless of their service status.
