Before there was Tohru and Kyo, there was Kyoko and Katsuya.
This movie is a compilation of the series, leading into a prequel. The story is broken into two parts: the first is a vague recap of the series, and the second is the backstory of Tohru's parents and life. Prior knowledge of the series would make the first part more enjoyable and engaging. The second part is beautiful, full of love, drama, anguish, emotion, and, finally, catharsis. The second part could have been an entire movie on its own. The one hour and twenty-eight minute runtime feels long because of the vague recap, but the prequel story is worth the time. Fans of the series should definitely watch this, and newbies might be interested in the series to fully appreciate this prequel.
