The world around the Grantham's is changing rapidly, and they must adapt to survive. Scandal, financial uncertainty, and evolving social norms make the transition of the lordship of the abbey more stressful and complicated than before.
This movie is meant to be the finale to the series and the final installment of the cinematic trilogy. This period piece is excellent, bringing the story to a more modern time. Fans of the franchise will enjoy seeing the story progress from a more Victorian time to a modern one. The story has all the classic Downton comedy, drama, and character references, so prior knowledge is helpful in fully appreciating this one. The two-hour and three-minute runtime goes by surprisingly quickly. Definitely a must-watch for fans, and can be enjoyed by casual watchers as well.
