During an unorthodox mushroom trip, Elliott meets her 39-year-old self. As they bond, future Elliott gives Elliott some advice. Not confident in her younger self, future Elliott stays in contact and helps guide Elliott as best she can. As Elliott heeds the advice from her future self, she discovers more about herself, her relationships, and her existence.
This is a great film that falls into many different genres. It has a bit of science fiction, coming-of-age, love, comedy, and sexuality and orientation. The story blends all these genres well, one flowing into the next, keeping it exciting and engaging. The story focuses on the present time, giving little background on the time-traveling aspects or too much backstory to any one character. The runtime is one hour and twenty-nine minutes, and it does not feel any longer than that. This is an excellent film for anyone looking for something unique, fresh, and tired of prequels, sequels, or reboots.
