Chevalier

Joseph Bologne was the illegitimate child of a French plantation owner and his slave. Discovering his hidden talent for playing the violin, his father sent him off to a prestigious French academy to both hide his bastard and to give him a chance to succeed. Joseph dedicated himself to advancing and worked up the academy ranks until Marie Antionette, the Queen of France, annotated him, Chevalier. His dreams did not stop there; he wanted to become the world's most famous composer and violinist. As he worked to achieve this, he discovered his real place in the world and the true faces of the people around him.

In this situation, a composer, violinist, and revolutionary was written out of history all because of the color of his skin, and his music was lost for generations. Despite being short, the movie focuses mainly on one part of his life. It glazes over the rest, depriving the audience of fully knowing the history of the man.
