Things in Barbieland are routine until Barbie experiences unknown thoughts and feelings, and her heels touch the ground. Spooked, Barbie goes to Weird Barbie for advice and is told there is a rift between their world and the human, and she must travel there to help the child playing with her. Barbie and Ken venture into the human world to discover that it differs vastly from Barbieland. Both Barbie and Ken learn what they can in hopes of changing Barbieland, each in their way.

For a movie about a doll that has an infinite amount of stories, this film is excellent. The film takes into account the history of the doll, all the different iterations of the doll, and all the other dolls that Mattel produced. The film does not take itself too seriously, breaking the fourth wall multiple times during the movie and poking fun at real-world events. The story is wholesome and for a more mature audience, driving the real purpose of why Barbie was created and comparing it to the current limit of our society. This film is excellent for everyone, especially older girls discovering their voices.
