Burt and Harold survive the "war to end all wars," but not without receiving scars that would like a lifetime. While recovering in a hospital in France, they befriend their nurse Valerie. The three escape to Amsterdam, where they enjoy peace and tranquility. Burt and Harold return to New York to pursue their dreams; Burt, a doctor, wants to help suffering veterans. Harold, a lawyer, fights for marginalized people, leaving Valerie in Amsterdam. A decade later, Burt and Harold investigate their commanding officer's sudden and mysterious death. They must bring the true culprits to light to prove their innocence and discover the bigger game.
A film that has the makings of an exciting story, with some historical truth and a star-studded cast, but falls short of its full potential. The film is long and always seems to take off. The beginning and end are the most exciting, but the hour or more between seems drawn out and monotonous. There are some chuckle-inducing moments, but none will keep you engaged in the movie. Watch it when it is available to stream, and if you are a fan of any of the cast, otherwise, it can be skipped.
