A Good Person

After a horrific car accident that cost the life of her soon-to-be sister-in-law and her husband, Allison is left broken and guilt-ridden. She uses prescription pain medications to cope with the accident's physical, emotional, and mental pain. As her life spirals out of control, she decides to get help and ends up at the same AA meeting as her would-have-been father-in-law. The unlikely pair find a way to support each other despite their complex and uncomfortable history.

An emotionally heavy drama about how a single event can impact multiple lives. The central theme that both protagonists must overcome is substance abuse disorder. One character recovers and struggles with maintaining sobriety, while the other struggles. The movie does an exceptional job showing how each one struggles with their condition and the symptoms they may experience while going through withdrawal. This is an excellent movie if you want something heavy that does not drag on.
