Elemental

The day has finally arrived; Ember is ready to take over the family shop. Overwhelmed, she loses her temper and causes unexpected flooding to the shop, potentially jeopardizing everything her father worked so hard for. With the help of the inspector who started it all, she must figure out a way to save the shop and fulfill her family's expectations of her. As they work together to save the family business, Ember questions her true purpose.

The latest Pixar/Disney movie and their personification of the four primary elements, earth, wind, fire, and water. Even though all the characters are supposed to be elements, the story is about the burden of being the child of an immigrant and the first generation in a new place. The story arc is standard; what the protagonist is expected to do directly conflicts with what they genuinely want. The animation is colorful and captivating, and the take on how each element is personified is well done. Anyone interested in spirituality will recognize the tall tell signs of each element. An excellent movie for a family outing, especially for families with older kids, or a stay-at-home watch when available.
